Travel and maps in GWonMac

Travel between outposts, go to a friend or your Guild Hall, track title progress, use the exploration grid and walkable terrain, and plan elite skill captures.

These features help you get to a place, see what is left to do there, and find it on the map.

Travel

Travel searches outposts by the start of a name (kam, jewel istan), by an official shortcut (ha, eotn), or by a phrase you saved. Press Enter to go. It also lists recent places and your favourites.

Places your character has not unlocked stay in the list with the reason, and cannot be chosen. So does the outpost you are in.

  • Turn on: Travel, needs Enable Tools.
  • Open: ⌘ T, View → Travel, the chat command /tp, or search for a place name in the Hub.
  • Settings: the shortcut next to Travel in Settings → Tools. In Travel, Customize saves your own search phrases (up to 64, 1 to 40 characters each) and favourites. With an empty search, the number keys 1 to 9 select a favourite. ⌘ 1 to ⌘ 9 save the selected place under that number.
  • Limits: PvE only. In an explorable area, every trip first asks "Leave this area and travel to …?". Stay here is selected, so Enter stays.

Friends and Guild Hall

Search a friend's alias or character name to see where they are. Travel to outpost takes you to their outpost in any district. It does not join their exact instance. A friend who is offline, or whose location is out of date, cannot be travelled to.

Search guild hall or gh to go to your Guild Hall. In the hall, the same row reads Leave Guild Hall and returns you to the outpost you came from. Travel shows No Guild Hall when your character has none.

  • Turn on: Travel, needs Enable Tools.
  • Open: ⌘ T or the Hub, then type the friend's name or gh.
  • Limits: PvE only. To invite a friend after the trip, see Travel and invite under Chat and trade.

Progress

Progress lists what a title goal still needs for your current character: missions, hard mode missions, vanquishes, and outposts. Each missing place is one trip away. Press Enter on a mission to go to its outpost. An area or a locked mission goes to the nearest unlocked outpost on the same world map, and the button says "(nearest)".

Goals depend on your campaign. Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall list the Protector and Guardian titles, Vanquisher, Cartographer, and Outposts. Eye of the North lists Missions, Hard mode missions, Vanquishes, and Outposts. Cartographer shows a percentage per continent only, because the game does not say which areas are missing.

  • Turn on: it follows Travel. Progress has no switch of its own.
  • Open: search progress in the Hub, or a goal word: vq, guardian, protector, carto, hm, outposts.
  • Limits: PvE only, with a character. At loading screens, in PvP, and at character selection it shows a waiting line. A goal whose record cannot be read is left out instead of showing 0%. The goal you last picked is not saved between sessions.

Maps

Maps draws guidance on the game's own maps. It adds four layers, each with its own switch:

  • Exploration grid shows the cells you can still explore on the Mission Map and World Map. Hollow amber markers are estimates. Solid orange markers are confirmed for the map you are in.
  • Walkable terrain shades the areas you cannot walk on, on the Compass and Mission Map.
  • Compass ranges draws rings for Shout, Cast, Spirit, and Ext. Spirit range around you.
  • Markers on Compass adds nearby unexplored cells to the Compass.

Hold Shift over a Mission Map cell to see the 3×3 area standing there reveals. Hold Option and Shift for the 7×7 Bird's Eye area.

  • Turn on: Maps, needs Enable Tools. Then turn on the layers you want: Exploration grid, Walkable terrain, Compass ranges, Markers on Compass.
  • Open: the round control beside the Compass shows or hides the Compass range rings and has options for them. Settings → Maps has the switch for every layer. You can assign a shortcut to Exploration grid and Walkable terrain there; both start unassigned. In the Hub, the Maps row opens these settings.
  • Settings: Map style (Cartographer, Synthwave, Monochrome, or your own), Terrain border thickness, Grid opacity, Reveal range (Off, Normal · 3×3, Bird's Eye · 7×7), Walkable terrain opacity, Compass control visibility. Compass ranges can be set to Color or Monochrome, and each ring can be turned off.
  • Limits: supported PvE maps only. The grid covers Pre-Searing, Tyria, Cantha, and Elona. In dungeons, underground maps, the Battle Isles, and the Realm of Torment, the grid hides and only walkable terrain stays. The layers return after you travel to a fully supported area. You can edit Maps settings while Tools are off; the layers show once Tools and Maps are on.

Elite skill planner

The planner helps you capture elite skills. It lists every elite skill with its boss, where to find the boss, and whether this character has learned the skill.

Star a skill to add it to your Hunt list. The next boss on that list becomes your target automatically: this area first, then this region. Use Set target to pick another, and Use automatic target to go back. A captured skill stays on the list with a tick. Remove captured from Hunt list clears them. The Hunt list is kept for each character.

The planner switches between All matches and Hunt list. Filters apply to All matches: search, class buttons (Mine follows your professions), Not learned, Learned or Any, and region.

On the Mission Map, boss markers show where the boss can spawn. Click a marker to set it as your target, add it to your Hunt list, or open the planner.

  • Turn on: Elite skill planner. It needs Maps on.
  • Open: open the World Map and select the control in its upper-right corner. From the Build Library's skill view, Find capture locations opens the same details.
  • Settings: Mission Map markers: Hunt list, All planner matches, or Off.
  • Limits: PvE and supported maps only. A skill counts as learned only when the game reports it for the current character. Boss positions are spawn points, not live positions.
