In-game timers and readouts in GWonMac

Effect Timers, Skill Cooldowns, Skill Key Labels, Target Distance, Reminders, Alcohol Timer and Resign: what each shows and how to turn it on.

These Tools add numbers and prompts to the game screen. They only show information, apart from Resign, which asks before it acts. Every one needs Enable Tools and works in PvE.

Effect Timers

Effect Timers shows the exact time left on the icons in your Effects panel. Above 99 seconds it shows minutes, such as 2m. Below that it shows seconds, and tenths of a second in the last 3 seconds. Effects with no end, or a very long one, show no number.

  • Turn on: Effect Timers. It is off by default.
  • Open: always visible once on. It has no window or shortcut.
  • Limits: your own effects only, in PvE. It shows nothing for party members or enemies.

Skill Cooldowns

Skill Cooldowns puts a number on each recharging skill in your skill bar. It shows whole seconds, and tenths in the last 3 seconds. A skill that is ready shows no number.

  • Turn on: Skill Cooldowns.
  • Open: always visible once on. It has no window or shortcut.
  • Settings: Timer color: red, cream, gold, blue, or Custom.
  • Limits: PvE only.

Skill Key Labels

Skill Key Labels draws your own key names on the eight skill slots. Use it when your Guild Wars controls are not 1 to 8. It changes only what is drawn; it does not change any Guild Wars key binding. Slots you leave unset keep the labels 1 to 8.

  • Turn on: Skill Key Labels.
  • Open: always visible once on. Set the labels in Settings → Tools.
  • Settings: Skill labels. For each of the eight slots, choose Set label, then press a key, or click or scroll in the capture box. Modifier keys count. Escape cancels. Use default clears a slot.
  • Limits: PvE only.

Target Distance

Target Distance shows how far away your selected target is.

  • Turn on: Target Distance.
  • Open: always visible once on. It has no window or shortcut.
  • Limits: PvE only.

Reminders

Reminders print a line in your own chat, starting with [gwonmac], a minute before a con, pcon, or alcohol effect runs out and again when it has. Only you see these lines. Nothing is sent to other players.

Con and pcon times are exact. Alcohol is an estimate, so its lines say "about".

  • Turn on: Reminders. It is off by default.
  • Open: always on once enabled. It has no window or shortcut.
  • Settings: choose what to be reminded about: Cons, Pcons, Alcohol. Choose when: 1 minute before it runs out and When it has run out. Optionally Play a sound, one short chime even when several reminders arrive together. With no item or no time chosen, nothing appears.
  • Limits: PvE only. Using a con again starts its reminders over. If the effect ends early, for example when you die, enter an outpost, or change character, there is no "has run out" line.

Alcohol Timer

Alcohol Timer shows a small beer icon and a countdown while you are drunk. It turns amber in the last 15 seconds and disappears at zero. It is hidden when you are sober.

The time is an estimate of one minute per alcohol level. If you turn the timer on while already drunk, it can stay hidden until your next drink. Nothing is saved between sessions.

  • Turn on: Alcohol Timer. It is off by default.
  • Open: the timer sits near the top-left of the game view. To move it, choose Adjust position in Settings → Tools, drag the timer in a game window, then select its lock.
  • Settings: Alcohol Timer position: Adjust position and Reset position. The timer keeps its distance from the nearest corner when you resize the window.
  • Limits: PvE only.

Resign

Resign asks before it sends /resign. A dialog appears first. Press Enter to confirm, or Escape to cancel. The dialog accepts Enter only after a short moment, so the key press that opened it cannot also confirm it.

  • Turn on: Resign. It is off by default.
  • Open: its shortcut, which is unassigned by default. Assign one next to Resign in Settings → Tools. Or use View → Resign…, or search resign in the Hub.
  • Limits: PvE only, in an outpost or explorable area. Finish or clear your chat draft first.
