Chat and trade tools in GWonMac
Whispers, Trade Chat, Chat Filters and Call target: what each does, how to turn it on and how to open it in Guild Wars on Mac.
These tools sit beside Guild Wars' own chat. They add a whisper panel, a trade browser, quieter chat, and a key for calling targets.
Whispers
Whispers is a movable panel for whisper conversations. It shows incoming whispers and the replies you send, one conversation per person. Guild Wars' own chat keeps working as before, and a reply you type there appears in the panel too.
A small movable icon shows unread messages without taking focus. Hide Whispers with the Hide Whispers button; your drafts stay until the session ends. Pick a person from friends, open conversations, recent people, and names seen in chat.
- Turn on: Whispers, needs Enable Tools. It is off by default.
- Open: ⌘ D, View → Whispers, or in the Hub type
whisperand a character name. Opening a result sends nothing; you press Enter or Send. - Settings: in the panel's options menu: sound (Off, When chat is in background, or Every incoming whisper), Background opacity, Mute this conversation, Close read conversations, and Clear recent people.
- Limits: PvE only. Conversations last for this session only. They clear when you leave the game, change character, or turn Whispers off. The panel hides during loading screens and in PvP. A message has a length limit, which the message box shows. The panel holds up to 32 open conversations.
Invite to party
In an outpost, type invite and the full character name in the Hub to invite that character. Only an exact name invites; a part of a name opens that person's actions instead. Type invite with a space to list your online friends. Guild Wars answers in chat.
For a friend who is in another PvE outpost, Travel and invite travels there, then sends the invite once you arrive. If you change character first, or the trip does not arrive, no invite is sent.
- Turn on: Whispers. Travel and invite also needs Travel.
- Open: ⌘ R, then
inviteand a name, or choose Invite to party on a person. - Limits: PvE outposts only. Travel and invite is not offered for PvP outposts such as Random Arenas. If you land in a different district from your friend, Guild Wars cannot find them.
Trade Chat
Trade Chat is a window for browsing recent Kamadan and Pre-Searing trade messages. Search by item or character name, and filter by All, Selling, or Buying. Select an offer to read it in full, copy the character name or the offer, or whisper the seller.
Saved keeps offers you starred and players you followed. Trader prices shows Kamadan NPC trader quotes with a short price history.
Trade Chat only reads. You post your own listings in Guild Wars, as before.
- Turn on: Trade Chat, needs Enable Tools.
- Open: ⌘ K, View → Trade Chat, the chat command
/trade, or in the Hub typetradeand an item. - Limits: works outside PvP. It needs a connection and reads a public trade feed, so it can show "Waiting for Kamadan to reconnect" with a Try again button. Whisper in an offer needs Whispers on.
Chat Filters
Chat Filters hides selected system notices before they enter your chat log.
- Turn on: Chat Filters, needs Enable Tools.
- Settings: each option hides one kind of message when it is on: Hide other party members' item drops, Hide Hall of Heroes winner announcements, Hide player title achievements.
- Limits: works outside PvP.
Call target
Call target calls the selected target without attacking it. It sends the Guild Wars shortcut Ctrl Shift Space for you, from a key you choose.
- Turn on: Call target, needs Enable Tools. It is off by default.
- Open: ⌘ G while the game has keyboard focus. You can change or clear the key next to Call target in Settings → Tools. It has no Hub row and no menu item.
- Limits: it needs Guild Wars' default controls, because it sends that shortcut. It does nothing while you type in chat.
